TON Wallets: How to Choose One and Not Lose Your Money

To use the TON ecosystem, you need a wallet. The main difference between wallets comes down to who holds the keys to your money.

A custodial wallet works like a bank account: the service holds the keys. Forget your password, and support can restore access. But the service can also freeze your wallet.

A non-custodial wallet works like a safe only you know the combination to. You're the only one who can move the money, but if you lose access, no one can get it back for you.

TON's native coin has been called Gram since June 2026 (formerly Toncoin).

The main wallets

  • Walt (@walt, formerly Wallet) built into Telegram, though it was removed from the main menu on September 28, 2026. The main section is custodial, but there's also a non-custodial "TON Wallet" inside it. For your first steps, it's easier to start with Gram Wallet below.
  • Gram Wallet a new non-custodial wallet in Telegram. It's being rolled out to users gradually, and once it's available to you, it will show up in Settings.
  • Keeper (formerly Tonkeeper) the most popular non-custodial wallet, with over 77 million users. Supports TON and six other blockchains, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. The best choice for working with Mini Apps.
  • My Wallet (formerly MyTonWallet) an open-source non-custodial wallet, convenient on desktop.
  • Tangem or Ledger hardware wallets for larger amounts.

How to set up a wallet in Keeper

  1. Download Keeper from the App Store, Google Play, or the official website.
  2. Tap "Create Wallet."
  3. Write down the 24-word seed phrase on paper. It's the only way to recover access.
  4. Confirm a few of the words and set a password.

Done. Your address starts with UQ, share it to receive funds.

How to top up from Russia

You can't buy crypto with a card inside the wallet. Use the P2P market in @walt or a crypto exchange instead. Send a small amount first.

How not to lose your money

  • Neither support nor Telegram will ever ask for your seed phrase. Anyone who does is a scammer.
  • Don't keep the phrase on your phone: no screenshots, no notes.
  • Only download wallets from official sources. Fakes are everywhere.
  • When sending to an exchange, include the comment (memo) if it requires one.
  • A blockchain transfer can't be reversed, so double-check the address.
  • Only scammers promise guaranteed returns in crypto.

Try it in practice

The easiest way to try out your new wallet: create a split jar in WorkSplit.ton (worksplit.ton.run). It costs 1 Gram, and incoming payments are automatically split between participants by share.
